by Brian Stableford
Product Group: Book
ISBN: 0929480805
Binding/Media: Hardcover - 207 pages
Condition: Very Good
Comments: Hardcover with dj & mylar protection, this is a nice ex-library copy of Brian Stableford's foray into the style of "scientific romance" a la H.G. Wells. Part of the fun is spotting the names from history and literature who pop up in major and minor roles: a "Great Detective" & his Dr. Watson-like friend who chronicles his adventures, an Eastern European count plagued by reputation-destroying rumours of vampirism, H.G. Wells the writer, Nicolas Tesla, more. If you are fond of early SF in the scientific romance mode, you will like this book. If you prefer fast-action contemporary vampire fiction, you may not. Pages are clean, book has usual ex-library markings.

Condition: Good
Comments: Hardcover with DJ, this is THE LAND OF STONES AND SAINTS by Frances Parkinson Keyes, from Doubleday Press New York:1957) The dj is in ragged condition, with tears and rips along all the edges and spine. The gray cloth boards are in good condition, the pages are clean. Keyes' exploration of the city of Avila in the Spanish province of Old Castile during the 15th, 16th and 17th centuries when its streets were walked by the two well-known Catholic mystics, St. Juan de la Cruz and St. Teresa, and by a lesser-known mystic named Maria Vela, and by Princess Isabella, later wife of Ferdinand of Aragon and patroness of Columbus. A rousing good story of a time and place peopled with saints, housed in a well-used, ragged jacketed edition. DiNaylor {chk dups}
